Hey guys! My name is Erica. I am currently fighting cancer. I have Medullary Thyroid and T Cell Lymphoma (systemic). I also battle an incurable brain disease called IIH (Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension).
I am currently under treatment for both cancers and IIH. In April I had surgery to place a venous sinus stent to open the blood flow in my brain. I have had multiple surgeries to release intracranial hypertension, and in addition to the surgeries I have a VP shunt. In October I had a stroke on the left side of my brain due to high pressure.
In July '24 I had two kidney surgeries to save my right kidney. The medication I take for IIH is not kidney friendly, and recently it has started to attack my liver as well as my kidney, so I'm under close observation.
On January 8, 2026 I was laid off due to health reasons. In return I lost my health insurance. I am currently trying to cover the undue burden of treatment, follow-up appointments and medicines along with whatever the journey brings. Due to being closely monitored I have several appointments and medications I take daily.
I am having to pay CASH for my entire journey. As you can imagine, it's pretty costly and adding up fast — in addition to parking costs and hospital stays. I have several appointments in the near future and will need to continue to take meds. I have also accumulated medical debt, I currently cannot work, and I am waiting on social security.
